1976
First Architectural Design
The vision for Bluff National Park Golf Club began in 1976 when the first course design was drawn up by architect Alan Barnard. This early planning phase laid the foundation for the club’s future development, shaping the direction of what would later become a championship course set within a unique natural environment.
1985
Final Design Amended & Construction Begins
In 1985, the final course design was amended, marking a significant step forward in the club’s development. Construction officially began during this year, transforming the original vision into reality and setting the groundwork for the championship course that would follow.
1987
First Nine Holes Open
In 1987, the first nine holes officially opened to players. Designed by Alan Barnard, the course immediately showcased its unique blend of strategic challenge and breathtaking environmental surroundings.
1989
Full 18-Hole Championship Course Completed
By 1989, the full 18-hole championship layout was completed. Surrounded by rich birdlife and scenic water features, the course established itself as a true test of golf while preserving its natural beauty.
1995
Members Agreed To Pay A Levy Towards The Clubhouse
In 1995, the members agreed to a levy to fund the clubhouse, with contributions earmarked to support the construction, which officially began in March 1997.
1997
Clubhouse Opens
The clubhouse opened in 1997, providing welcoming facilities for members and guests. Since then, it has become the social heart of the club, supporting both the golfing community and ongoing efforts to preserve the vibrant wetland ecosystem.
